Dear Readers,
I am happy to be able to share the story of Wrong Way, Gimli and was honored to find a great illustrator like Jared. I am a first-time author, and a lifelong nature, music and animal lover. For around ten years I have wanted to write a children's book and was waiting for an idea. As a Recreation Therapist at a hospital, part of my job is to assess patients' ability to interact within the community. One day, a patient was complaining that they would not do well finding their way around town and the therapists didn't understand how difficult it was. I chuckled to myself thinking... if only she knew what all the people close to me in my life know, I am also directionally challenged. Friends and family who have watched me orient myself around the city laugh at the thought of me assessing this skill in others. I immediately started writing the book and the rest is history. This book tells a touching tale of a Canadian goose without a sense of direction. Every character in the book is named after a place in Canada like Gimli (Manitoba), Charny (Quebec), Fenwick (Ontario), Victoria (BC) and Bashaw (Alberta).
I hope you enjoy reading about Gimli and his friends and share the book and this site with friends and loved ones.
Sincerely,
Rebecca |
